We’re Moving In

Posted by: Leisa  :  Category: Free Style Dance

We’re moving in. Well I’m not.  Many of my posts from another blog are.  I’m splitting up a couple of old blogs that I don’t use much any more and moving most of the posts elsewhere.

The posts that are more personal in nature, or the posts that tell my life story are getting moved here. Posts that have to do with success principles are going to my blogs at Wealth Wisdom and Success.

So if you are a subscriber of this blog I’ll try not to overdo it and move to much of it at once, but be forewarned that you may get more than one post a day. But hopefully they’ll be interesting.  And I’m sorry if you end up reading a duplicate post of two if you’ve followed me for some time.

Oh, by the way.  I appreciate you!

My Life Story Part 1: My Highly Tuned Perception

Posted by: Leisa  :  Category: Dancing Through History

BrainwavesMy life has been a great one in so many ways. It truly has, and for that I am very grateful. However, I’ve had my share of trauma and periodic depression, but I believe it has had a purpose.

You’ll learn more about that as I write more about my life.  I figured it was time I shared with you, my blog readers, my story. So here is it part one, of my life’s story.

I was born in a cold Army hospital weighing close to 4 pounds, but I was not premature. I was simply tiny. I remained tiny the rest of my childhood. So tiny in fact that I weighed 50 pounds in Junior High School. But it wasn’t from lack of eating. I had just received an award at camp for the girl who went back fifths, sixths, and sevenths through the cafeteria line. I ate a lot.

Later in life it would prove to be a novelty with my dates. They were shocked that I would order a large meal, eat it all, and even eat dessert. They said it was refreshing to take someone to dinner who wanted more than a salad and ice water. I still weighed close to 100 pounds so it was very unexpected. How could someone so tiny eat so much?

People heard rumors that I ate more than my brothers, but simply wouldn’t believe it until they saw me eat. I had a high metabolism, but was also a ballet dancer.

I was also born with a very highly tuned sixth-sense.
I could sense peoples thoughts and feelings.
I regularly knew things before they happened.

Blog Contest: Vote For A Chance to Win

Posted by: Leisa  :  Category: Free Style Dance

My friend Paul has been winning a contest over a QuicKutz.  However, a last minute push by one of the contestants has resulted in a close contest.  It’s just to close now.  And it ends tonight at midnight (Pacific Time).

I decided to add a little incentive simply as an incentive to pass the word along, and taking the time to register and vote. (If you voted yesterday you can vote again today).  Just after midnight I’ll draw a name from all eligible entries and post the winner in the morning.

The prize is a drawing for the “Home” plaque shown below (a $24.95 value) and a 1 year membership to Rich Women Sisterhood ($39.00 Value). That makes the prize package valued at $64.95.

Here’s how you can enter…

First and foremost:  Register and vote for Paul’s Nativity book, then leave a comment here telling me you voted.

I’m A Proud Sister of a Computer Modder

Joshua Driggs - AKA The Zap WizardI’ve just got to take a few minutes to tell you that I’ve got an incredible family! Since this blog is related to personal matters I thought it would be fun to feature some of my family members. My first featured sibling is Joshua Driggs, aka The Zap Wizard, my youngest brother. Joshua is a technical genius. You’ll soon see why I call him that…

He has developed several award winning products that I’d like to tell you about…

First of all, Josh designed a product that just won the 2009 Innovations Design and Engineering Award From Consumer Electronics Association. It’s a NetStreams touch pad audio controller that can easily be modified to match any decor. Here’s an article at MarketWatch.com on it, a bloggers review, and some images:netstreams_5f00_touchlinx_5f00_teaser_5f00_small

Now, on to some of his other work…

Josh made a name for himself in the modding world (make modifications to existing technology). He’s actually had people gravel to their knees and bow at some of the technology/computer modification conventions.

Here’s some samples of his work…

He created an award-winning PC out of an ammo case that was featured on TechTV, in PC Extreme Magazine and Media PC.

One of his latest projects, I believe, was something to do with an designing maps for an online gaming community using a new computer language. I’ll post more info on that as I find it out more details. You can see screenshots at Flickr.

Josh has done all of this without much formal training. Much of what he does is self-taught.

Ground Beef Cooking Day

Posted by: Leisa  :  Category: Dancing Through History

In November I prepared a bunch of meals for the freezer, in preparation for our Snowbird vacation.  I prepared nearly everything for the meals ahead of time.  For omelets I cut the veggies, cracked three eggs into a Ziplock baggie, and had the kids squeeze them to mix them.  One morning I heated a pan, poured the eggs into the pan, cooked them, topped it with the veggies and cheese and I had a nice breakfast prepared in to time.

I had gotten a fantastic deal on chicken breasts that month and had bought a case, so we ended up eating quite a bit of chicken.  (I’ll get around to posting the recipes I used sometime). Recently I picked up a case of ground beef (40 lbs.) for $35.00, so it ended up costing me $.88 a pound.  I already had one 5 pound chug in the fridge so I’ll be preparing 45 lbs. over a period of a couple of days.

Here’s what I added to the freezer, or what we ate right away:

  • 3 batches of Spaghetti Sauce – 1 Gallon Each
  • Taco Meat – 3 Quarts
  • 1 Nacho Cheese Casserole (double batch)
  • Taco Soup 1 Batch for Dinner Party, 1 Batch for Family, 3 Batches for Freezer
  • 3 packages of Baked Potato Topping
  • 3 Chinese Casseroles
  • 3 Noodle Casseroles
  • 2 Gallons of Alaskan Stew
  • 2 Meatloaf – 1 for freezer, and one for that nights dinner
  • 2 Pans of Lasagna
  • 1 Gallon of browned Ground Beef for other meals

I think I may have missed writing down a few things as well. By this count I got 28 meals out of it at an average cost of less than $5.00 per meal, for a maximum of .62 per serving. The Taco Soup served more than eight people per meal, but I just based everything on eight servings.
